OYO STATE GOVT SHUT DOWN BODIJA MARKET.

The popular Bodija Market in Ibadan, Oyo State, has been shut down by the state government, Business Post has confirmed.
The market, we learned, was closed today following crisis that broke out in the area on Thursday morning
Business Post gathered that there was sporadic shooting at the market this morning as well as its environs.
To forestall further breakdown of law and order, the state government made the decision to shut down the market.
“The Oyo State government has shut down Bodija market for security reasons.
“This is an aftermath of the sporadic shooting which occurred earlier today in the market and its environs,” a statement issued by the government on Thursday afternoon said.
The statement added that, “The Aare Laatosa LCDA chairman, Adekunle Oladeji, said the closure is to prevent the loss of lives and property of the citizenry.
“It is also to guard against the escalation of the violence in the market to other parts of the state.”
Business Post reports that crisis broke out today at the Bodija Market as a result of a clash between security operatives and butchers, who are not happy with their relocation.
Our correspondent kadelu oluwole benedict was at the incident he reported to have interviewed one of the market women who said they just heard gun shot here and there and all they could do was the run for their lives..
